Mauling Memorial Day

In 2008 I had the honor of being present at the Memorial Day service at Arlington National Cemetary, and it was one of the most heart wrenching experiences I have ever had. Surrounded by families of the fallen, watching President Bush lay a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, as TAPS played… it still brings tears to my eyes.

This year will be different- our President will not be at Arlington to honor the fallen men and women who gave their “last full measure of devotion” to their country. He will not look into the eyes of the families and friends of those who died to protect our country, to preserve our freedom. He will not listen to TAPS, or lay a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. No, Obama has decided to skip Memorial Day in order to go home to Chicago.

This is unacceptable, this is a slap in the face to the brave men and women who day after day put their lives on the line for you, for me, AND for him. And instead of honoring them properly, he is leaving D.C. to go visit friends from the dirty Chicago political machine.

The Gold Star families, who have lost their sons and daughters overseas deserve better, they deserve a President who appreciates the sacrifice that their precious children made on his behalf. They deserve to be looked in the eyes and told how much they mean to the people of this great nation.

But Obama doesn’t honor these men and women- these sons and daughters, moms and dads, brothers and sisters, these loved ones that laid down their lives. Instead of honoring them, he goes around APOLOGIZING for them. Instead of paying homage to these amazing men and women, he makes their sacrifices and courage out to be “arrogance” and “empire building.”

As a grand-daughter of a Marine that barely survived the battle of the Chosin Reservoir, and as a sister of an Airman fighting in the Middle East right now, it’s the final straw. I never liked him, but now I officially DESPISE him.

His blatant disrespect for our Armed Forces and the valiant men and women who DIE every day so that you and I can be free, takes away any respect due to him as President. I will never again honor him with that title, he doesn’t deserve it, he is a traitor to our brave men and women. From now on he will be Mr. Obama to me.

And Mr. Obama- I can’t wait till 2012 when I can vote for someone who actually DESERVES the title of the President of The United States!

  1. WOW, your personal testimony on this is powerful. Whether it is leaving DC during Christmas and depriving the nation of White House holiday cheer, or the much more serious abdication of his responsibilities to the fallen, he is a disgrace and and impostor. In fact I think he may be from Mars..http://wp.me/pMW8w-hP
But this November he will be relegated to a Clinton-esque irrelevancy and the hammer with which he has been bludgeoning the Sistine Ceiling that is the USA will finally be ripped from his hands.

  2. Your grandfather certainly deserves honor for his role in the Chosin breakout, one of the epic battles in U.S. military history. The Marines (and other forces) were outnumbered 2 to 1 and still managed to overcome the enemy.
    Honor is due.

  3. Just curious…you do know that President Obama attended and spoke at a Memorial Day service in the Chicago area, right? And that he is at least the third president to not attend Memorial Day services at Arlington? Want to know who the others were and why they didn’t attend? Ronald Reagan, who was at a G8 meeting, and George W. Bush, who was on vacation in Crawford, Texas, and did not attend any Memorial Day service that year.

Google is your friend…use it or another search engine and check this out. Then please let me know if your opinion of Reagan and “W” and Obama has changed.
