Got this e-mail and wanted to pass it on to all interested parties. Our local universities need our help!
Dear LSUS Students,
Your university faces a major budget crisis. Louisiana has cut higher education, including total cuts to LSU Shreveport of almost 40% in the last three years, and it is very likely these cuts will continue and worsen. Budget cuts threaten vital programs, services and scholarships for our students. Fortunately, business leaders in Shreveport and Bossier City are ready to help us, but they need your support.
Join us at the Shreveport/Bossier City Higher Education Imperative meeting this Wednesday, Oct. 20th at 10:30 am in the Bossier Civic Center.
This is a meeting of businesses and community leaders who are uniting in support of higher education, and it is being billed as a media event…so the more people who attend, the more our community will be convinced of our resolve. If these business leaders, the media, and our community finally realize how bad the budget cuts are and how important LSUS is to the health and education of the region, maybe our legislators will finally listen.
PLEASE TRY TO ATTEND!!! Check with your professors FIRST if you have a scheduled class. Also, help us get the word out. Contact your friends! This meeting will be essential in convincing our legislators that they cannot continue to cut higher education without seriously damaging all of our futures. Let’s show Louisiana that LSUS truly makes a difference in our lives.
