Safe, Legal & Rare?

If you haven’t heard of the horror that is Kermit Gosnell’s Philadelphia abortion clinic, I urge you to take the time to read the Grand Jury Report. (WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGES)
It is a little lengthy, and contains disgusting details related to Gosnell’s heinous crimes, but nonetheless it is an important read. It is the cavalier attitude the pro-abortion movement has cultivated towards life that is responsible for this travesty. People have forgotten that the unborn are alive, they have dehumanized them to the point that the people involved in this operation did not think to question what was happening. They have made abortion into a profit business, and Gosnell wanted to capitalize on it.
One of the most telling details of this story is that someone from the National Abortion Federation came to inspect the clinic. Not only did Gosnell’s clinic not meet NAF’s “standards”, the inspector said it was the worst abortion clinic she had ever seen. She admitted that she saw patients being treated with powerful drugs by unlicensed workers, witnessed violations of the mandatory 24 hour waiting period, and other self-described “dangerous” practices.
The pro-abortion movement’s mantra is “keep abortion safe, legal, and rare.” Yet when NAF saw women being put in a dangerous situation, they did not go to the authorities. They did not try to protect these poor women. They kept their mouths shut, and allowed Gosnell to continue his illegal practices.
NAF is not the only organization at blame for what happened in Philadelphia, but their actions (or lack thereof) are at least partially to blame. And it seriously undermines their claims to care about safety and about the women themselves.

CPAC 2013

I am so excited to be going to CPAC 2013 next week! It was a last minute decision but I’m glad I made it!

I’m a bit OCD, so I’ve been pouring over the agenda trying to determine what I want to go see, hear, and do the most- and all of it looks amazing! A few things that I’m really looking forward to are:

Palin, Gingrich, Perry, Jindal & Ryan’s speeches. Even if you aren’t a fan of them, you have to admit they know how to get people excited! As a former speech major, I love watching them perform- because that is what they do!!

The Faith and Family Coalition Prayer Breakfast.

AUL’s screening of “3801 Lancaster” which is a documentary about the horrific discoveries the FBI made in their 2012 raid of Kermit Gosnell’s abortion clinic. I’m sure this movie is going to be hard to watch, but I know it’s important that it gets seen!

Mike Huckabee’s pro-life movie “The Gift of Life.”

“The Making of America: The Substance and Meaning of the Constitution” lecture

The Honorable Mike Lee, “The Relevance of the US Constitution Today” lecture

A panel on the Benghazi cover-up.

Fight Club 2013, which is with Paul Belaga and Tucker Carlson

A panel on engaging youth in the conservative movement, obviously something near and dear to my heart!

Occupy Unmasked- the late Andrew Brietbart’s documentary on Occupy Wall Street

Meet and Greet with Paul Ryan!!!!!!!

“Hillary: The Movie” is the movie behind the Supreme Court’s Citizens United case! As a law student, I must go!

Gingrich’s documentary about my favorite president, Ronald Reagan.

A luncheon with Santorum

A panel on Abortion and Religious Liberty led by Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of the SBA List.

And there’s so much more!

I’ll do my best to keep ya’ll updated next week!

Open Message to “Occupy Wall Street”

Dear Occupy Wall Street:

GROW UP!

Hi, my name is Deanna. I work hard and go to school. I’m paying a lot of money for school because I want to better myself. I work hard at my job because I believe the American Dream is earned, not given by the government. I take out student loans, and I understand why they need to be paid back. I went two years without health care and didn’t complain. I live within my means and do not blame any one else for any debt that I accrue. I am in the Tea Party. I do not get paid for that, I do not quit my job to participate. I do not call for violence or violate the law in my protest. I do not violate property rights. I know what I believe in:

God

The Sanctity Of Life

A Small Government

Low Taxes

Hard Work

I don’t expect anyone to give me things for free. I don’t think the government is my sugar daddy. I might fall in the category of “poor” but I do not blame wall street, and I know that increasing taxes on the people who create jobs in this country will NOT CREATE JOBS!

So I have some advice for you:

Go Home

Take a Shower

Go to class

Get a Job

Get off your butt

Work Hard

GROW UP AND STOP BLAMING EVERYONE ELSE FOR YOUR PROBLEMS!!!!!!

The Summer of Stupidity

A year ago, President Obama and his Democratic cronies took trips all over the nation touting the “amazing” results of the stimulus bill. They called it “The Summer of Recovery” and were convinced that the worst of America’s economic woes were behind us.

Flash forward a year, to the present day and it is easy to see that a true recovery has NOT taken place. In fact, our economy has continued to decline since the passage of the massive stimulus bill.

First let’s look at employment- according to Speaker of the House Bohner, 1.5 Million jobs have been lost since the bill was signed into law in 2009. And unless you live under a rock, I think you probably know that unemployment rate is at 9.1%. And that alone is bad, but when you dig a little deeper you find out exactly HOW bad. According to figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics 15.8% of Americans are “underemployed,” meaning that  workers are being employed at less than full-time or regular jobs or at jobs inadequate with respect to their training or economic needs. This statistic is even more shocking to me than the total unemployment. These people might have ” a job” but they are not good jobs that allow them to reach their full potential or pay their bills.

According to FOX Business News, new unemployment filings have been above 400,000 (the number economist equate with a “healthy” ecnomy) for 10 straight weeks. Economists estimate that 125,000 jobs need to be added to the economy each month just in order to keep up with the population, and at least 250,000 jobs a month in order to start making a dent in the 9.1% unemplyoment rate… but in May we only added 54,000 jobs. Last year we added about 72,500 jobs a month. At that rate it would take nearly 8 years to make up all the jobs lost since the recession began.

Also, looking at the unemployed workers further reveals problems in the status quo. 6.2 Million workers have been unemployed for at least 6 months. And 1 in 3 of all unemployed Americans have been unemployed for over a year. This of course leads to other problems.

The housing market is still gasping for air, with an estimated 25% of mortgages currently underwater. New home sales are slightly up, at 560,000 but economists say that at least 1.2 Million are needed in order to consider the housing market as healthy.

One reason for some of the turmoil is likely to be the confusion and uncertainty regarding Obama Care. According to Representative Fred Upton of Michigan, the administration has published 3,500 pages of regulations related to the health care bill this year alone. With all the new regulations coming up, as well as many unanswered questions regarding the taxes and mandates in the bill- is it any wonder that businesses are reluctant to hire more workers or invest in new ventures?

Speaking of fear, the fastest rise in the price of consumer goods since 2006 happened this May, which make it unsurprising that a recent Gallup poll revealed that nearly half of all Americans think that the country is headed towards another recession. Add to this the fact that the price to feed a family of four has risen 5% since the “Summer of Recovery” and it comes as no surprise that normal, everyday people (or as Obama calls them- bumps in the road) are frightened.

What all of these statistics and figures prove is that the Obama administration is completely out of touch with reality, and that they bamboozled the voters of America into supporting a $1,160,000,000,000 (including interest) waste of time, effort, and especially of our hard earned tax dollars. How about we make them pay in 2012?

What is in a name?

I’ve been asking myself this over the past few weeks as I’ve enjoyed a barrage of opinions regarding my endorsement of Conservative Independent Phillip Templeton over Republican Michael Corbin.

There have been many who have applauded my choice, thanking me for standing up for my convictions and making a difficult choice.

There have been a few who explain my folly away as a transgression of youth.

And there have been a handful who have been rude and intolerant of anything but their own opinion on the matter.

I have been the recipient of some nasty e-mails, comments, and letters.

I have been kicked out of the Professional Women’s Republican Club.

My picture has been removed from the Louisiana Federation of Republican Women’s Website.

I have been blatantly ignored by those I thought were my friends.

And you know what?

I don’t regret it.

I made a choice, an informed, well thought out choice. I chose to do the right thing over the easy thing. I chose to follow my conscience instead of the crowd.

But I wonder…

What has made the people who antagonize me over this choice forget that Republican is just a name? That it is a person’s convictions, policies,  and actions that make them a Conservative, not the letter (or lack thereof) behind their name on the ballot?

Its like they forgot about the RINOs who got us into the mess of having a Democratic Congress.

There is a reason the TEA Party and other movements have threatened to break up the Republican Party- its because we keep forgetting that being a REAL conservative is more important than being registered a certain way! Its because Republicans get elected and immediately forget to vote like they are Republicans! Until we decide to be CONSERVATIVES before Republicans, there is no hope for our nation.

I’ve often scoffed at people who say that they didn’t leave the Republican Party, but that the Republican Party left them behind- but I am finally starting to understand what they meant.

Vote 2010

Two years ago I wrote the following

So I just wanted to remind everyone that the fight for American values is not over, rather it has just begun. We can not give up hope, we must stand together stronger than ever. All that is required for evil to prosper is for good men (and women) to do nothing. So do something! Keep your voice, shares your values, stand up for what is right, no matter how hard it gets.

And you guys did NOT disappoint! Two years later and the Tea Party has blossomed, launching a new generation of conservatives into the public spotlight; Republicans will take over the House by midnight, and might take over the Senate as well! Gubernatorial races are running strong red and things are looking bright indeed for the future of our nation!

But it still isn’t over- YOU MUST GO VOTE!

Hundreds of thousands of brave men and women have died so that you could cast your ballot. So go vote, and PLEASE- vote CONSERVATIVE!!!!
